  • When does WRSC meet?
Classes are held at designated times on weekdays at the Sublette County Ice Arena. Your skater will be registered in specific classes and will meet with his/her class at those times.
  • My child is brand new to skating, can he/she still skate in the shows?
Of course! There are classes for all ages and skill levels! The general rule is that skaters age 5 and under start their skating journey in our Snowplow Sam class. Skaters age 6 and up begin with our Basic 1/2 class. As your skater progresses in skills, our coaches will place them in the appropriate level. Twice a year, our club performs two shows, the Winter Ice Show and the Spring Ice Show. Each class will learn choreography that will highlight what they've been learning throughout the session. The shows are amazing productions, and participation from all skaters is encouraged!
  • What should my skater wear for class?
Warm clothes are a must! For our Snowplow Sam class, we recommend snowsuits, gloves, and some sort of protective helmet. Ski helmets work best, as they provide more warmth, but bicycle helmets work as well. The warmer we can keep the little ones, the more interested they will be to have fun on the ice! For our Basic levels and above, warm jackets, pants they can move in, and warm gloves and hats are recommended. Warmth is the key, but movement is also important as our skaters learn new skills. Make sure clothing doesn't drag or hang, as this could be dangerous for skating!
  • Do we need to purchase skates?
This is the best part about our club! The Wind River Skate Club can provide rental skates for $30 for a single session, or $60 for the full season. There is a $150 deposit required that is refunded upon return of skates. Skaters can join the club for a practice or two to try on skates, learn the rink, and get to know the coaches. Once they have been fitted for the appropriate skates, they can take those skates home and use them throughout the season. Skaters can use their club skates for any indoor rink activity, whether it be the club class time, public skate, or additional club ice time. We require anyone renting club skates to sign the Skates Rental Agreement, which can be found on the About / Forms page when you register for a skates rental.
  • Do we have to buy costumes?
Another great part about our club is the generous donations we've received over the years, which has allowed the Wind River Skate Club to purchase costumes for use by our skaters. Costumes for our Winter and Spring Ice Shows are provided by the club and must be returned to be reused in future shows. If your skater wishes to participate in competitions, you will need to consider purchasing your own costumes, though club costumes may be available to borrow with a refundable deposit. The only costume item your skater will be required to provide is a pair of nude skating tights for the ice shows. Some younger skaters also enjoy long sleeve nude leotards to fit under their costumes to help keep out the chill during the shows.
  • Safety and Club Rules
Safety is priority! We separate our skaters by skill level for a reason, and it's important to remember to watch out and be mindful of other skaters. All skaters are required to follow the rules of the Sublette County Ice Arena. Parents are required to read and sign the Parent Code of Conduct, which can be found at the link here and through the registration page.
  • What is USFSA? Is USFSA membership required?
The US Figure Skating Association is the national governing body for the sport of figure skating in the United States. Wind Rive Skate Club is fully affiliated with USFSA, which means our skaters are trained, tested, and recognized by the USFSA standards. Many of our students compete at USFSA sanctioned events throughout the area. Membership with USFSA is not a requirement to skate with WRSC, but it is encouraged. USFSA provides an abundance of opportunities for skaters of all ages, including scholarships for our youth. If your skater wish to participate in competitions, membership to USFSA will be required.
  • Can I "Buy Now, Pay Later"?
Yes, you can with a PayPal's Pay Later option as it is included with the standard PayPal Checkout. At checkout, select the PayPal's Pay Later button to pay the balance in installments. PayPal offers short-term, interest-free payments, longer-term, monthly installments, and other special financing options that you can use to buy now and pay later, while the club gets paid up-front.
